Last Monday, 5th graders participated in a great Spelling Bee contest at J.H. Newman School.
A spelling bee is a competition in which contestants are asked to spell a broad selection of words said by a judge, usually with a varying degree of difficulty. To compete, contestants must memorize the spelling of words without making any mistakes.
One of our five finalists, Jillian Abobo, got third place in the final competition. Other students such as Dylan Alves and Victoria Chuqui also had a good ranking in the semifinals. All of our students worked very hard studying the words and preparing the big day. Teachers really appreciate the hard work they did.
Everyone was very excited and quite nervous too. Despite the nerves, it was a fantastic experience for everyone and we had a wonderful time. We were able to make new friends from different schools during the breakfast we all shared together afterwards.
Looking forward to repeating next year for sure.
Special thanks to Newman School for the very warm welcome and for hosting such an incredible event.
See you next year!
